Barrett Carter and Demetrius Knight sparked optimism for the Cincinnati Bengals defense after a rocky 2023, delivering splash plays and marked improvement in Week 1. Carter notched his career-best PFF grade with 8 tackles, a forced fumble on Baker Mayfield at the goal line, and a strong coverage performance, while Knight returned a fumble 27 yards for a touchdown—both linebackers showing signs of turning a former weakness into a strength.
